Green Card Photo Tool (Form I-485)
USCIS uses the same 2x2" photo standard as the State Department. This tool produces both the digital upload file for your online filing and a printable 4x6" sheet in case your attorney or local office asks for a physical copy.

Frequently asked questions
- What requirements have been checked?
- Pixels: Square; 600β1200 pixels on each side. File: JPEG; at most 240 kB; 24-bit sRGB. Compression: At most 20:1. Appearance: Natural appearance; no enhancement or retouching. DPI: 300 PPI applies to scanning a printed 2Γ2-inch photo, not a universal digital DPI tag
- Does a technical check guarantee acceptance?
- No. The authority checks the photograph and submission route. Missing or conflicting requirements are identified above; a passing file-size check is not a biometric certification.
- Do I need a printed photo for an online I-485 filing?
- Most fully online filings only need the digital file, but some USCIS field offices and biometrics appointments still ask applicants to bring a physical copy β the included 4x6" tile sheet covers that without a separate trip to a photo booth.
